I-79 on-ramp to close in Harrison County beginning next week

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) - The West Virginia Division of Highways announced that the southbound Interstate 79 on-ramp at WV 58, will close at night for paving next week. The road closure will be on WV 58, on the Interstate 79 southbound on-ramp, at the 117 exit (Anmoore), from 6:00 P.M. Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, until 6:00 A.M. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026.

Harrison County Schools Discusses Progress On School Bus Driver Issues

The problem envisioned in August came like a slowly approaching storm that could be seen, the thunder rumbling heard, but no solution preventing its onset possible. Jamie Kosick reported that the school system, after attrition, would for 2026 “run short of drivers” for school buses. In early October, Rosie Linton, a fifth grade student at Mountaineer Elementary School, shared that “in the past two weeks, so the last 10 days of school Mountaineer Elementary has had a bus issue five of those days. So whether a bus did not run at all during the day or it was able to run in the morning and not in the afternoon.”

UPDATE: Multiple patients transported from Rt. 50 accident, road still closed

Information is limited, but the Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Department stated in a Facebook post that Route 50 West near Marshville is completely shut down as of 7:30 a.m. The fast lane of Route 50 East has also been shut down.

Transformer in the road causes a major back-up on Route 50

SALEM, W.Va. — U.S. Route 50 is back open after a major incident shutdown the highway’s west bound lanes for hours Thursday morning. An electric transformer fell off a truck in the west bound lanes around 4:45 a.m. The incident happened on a bridge near the Marshville Road intersection. The situation became even more complicated when the transformer ruptured and spilled oil over the bridge deck. An initial report to Harrison County 911 indicated the transformer had caught fire, that turned out to not be the case when the fire department arrived. The incident did create a haz-mat situation which closed the highway.
