    Former Queen Creek teacher allegedly showed students 'harmful material'

    A former teacher at Crismon High School in Queen Creek was arrested on April 26 for allegedly showing “harmful materials to minors.”

    The Queen Creek Police Department reports that on April 19, officers responded to a call at Crismon about an incident involving a teacher and a student.

    The teacher, identified as 56-year-old Brett Smith, is alleged to have displayed an  “inappropriate image to a student,” QCPD stated.

    Smith was arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail.

    The Queen Creek School District responded with the following statement:

    We have been made aware of the arrest of former CHS teacher, Brett Smith, for showing harmful materials to minors. CHS has cooperated fully with the Queen Creek Police Department during the investigation. Student safety is a top priority at QCUSD. We want to assure you that we are taking every step necessary to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. There is no additional information that can be provided at this time.
