PROVO, Utah ( ABC4 ) — The Cougar Pride Center has announced its fourth annual Pride in Progress March and Festival, scheduled for Saturday, April 27 in Provo.

The event is hosted by the Cougar Pride Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to serve as a resource center for students at Brigham Young University who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.

The organization said it works to “empower queer BYU students” as well as advocate for change and provide safe housing and events for LGBTQ+ students at the university.

What to expect at Pride in Progress

In a press release, the Cougar Pride Center called the event “one of the most anticipated Provo pride events of the year.”

The annual event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on April 27 at the Historic Courthouse in Provo. At the courthouse, those in attendance will hear speeches from members of the BYU and LGBTQ+ communities.

“Pride in Progress is an end of semester event meant to celebrate, honor, and uplift our resilient LBGTQ+ community,” the organization said.

At 6 p.m., participants will march to Memorial Park in Provo, after which the festival and concert are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The event at Memorial Park will feature performances from local musicians in addition to drag performances.

Those who wish to attend the event are asked to register online . It should be noted that the RSVP is for the festivities at Memorial Park and not for the march.

Furthermore, attendees will be asked to show a confirmation email before being granted entry to the event.

The Cougar Pride Center is also in need of volunteers for the event, and those interested in volunteering can apply online .
