PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a double stabbing in Providence late Monday night.

Police say 29-year-old Victor Lugo and 26-year-old Arialisa Medina broke into an apartment in the area of Amherst and Steuben streets around 8:30 p.m.

A man inside the apartment had a knife and stabbed Lugo and Medina, police said. They were both driven to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they may know each other and the incident potentially started over a previous argument.

Lugo and Medina have been charged with breaking and entering, an assault.
