Ava Moretti smashed a walk-off, two-run home run over the left field fence to send the Masuk High softball team to a dramatic 6-4 win over Newtown in nine innings of Wednesday’s South-West Conference Championship game at DeLuca Field.

The North Haven baseball team began the SCC Tournament at Guilford on May 20 and won 6-4 in come-from-behind fashion. The Nighthawks scored four runs in the seventh inning in the victory. Luca Faulkner hit an RBI single in the contest, and in the big seventh inning, North Haven scored four runs. These were highlighted by a Max Cargan single that tied the game at four and a Nick Romano two-RBI single that gave the Nighthawks a 6-4 lead.

Softball Players Named All-Shoreline, Baseball Wins Two in Tournament Action
H-K baseball hosted Portland in the Shoreline Conference Tournament quarterfinals on May 20 and won 12-2. Matt Shea pitched six innings of two-hit ball to get his seventh win. Luke Mauri had two hits and three RBI, and Blake Kamoen, Max Selmer, and Ryan Erskine each added two hits in the 12-hit attack.

Several Athletes Named All-Conference, Outdoor Track Teams Make a Statement in Conference Meet
Senior Enaji Muhammad of the Branford boys’ outdoor track team earned Second Team All-SCC honors at the SCC Championship after finishing second in the high jump. Muhammad jumped 6”4’ at the meet, which was held at Amity Regional High School on May 21. He also finished sixth in the triple jump and accounted for all of Branford’s team scoring at the meet.
