    Traffic stop leads to 32g crack cocaine bust

    PROCTOR, Vt. ( NEWS10 ) — Two people were arrested in Proctor, Vermont after a traffic stop led to a 32-gram crack cocaine bust. Nichole Lussier (44, Poultney), and Adam Rathbun (38, Rutland) each face charges.

    On Thursday, around 11:09 p.m., a car was pulled over on South Street in Proctor for an equipment violation. Deputies from the Rutland County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Lussier and the passenger as Rathbun.

    Deputies say Rathbun admitted to having a firearm in the trunk even though he was not allowed to possess firearms due to conditions of release. Both were detained.

    Deputies say a further investigation found Rathbun was violating court-ordered conditions stemming from an aggravated assault charge for being out after curfew. Lussier was initially released but was quickly found again after deputies said she was known to law enforcement.

    Deputies say she was known for trying to elude law enforcement for several months and had a warrant without bail for assault. She allegedly tried to hide in the woods but was found and arrested. Deputies say she was found with 32 grams of crack cocaine.

    Lussier Charges:

    • False information to a police officer
    • Identity theft
    • Impeding a police officer
    • Possession of cocaine
    • State of Vermont Arrest warrant for assault with no bail

    Rathbun Charges:

    • Violation of conditions of release (two counts)

    Lussier was taken to the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility where she is held without bail. She’s set to appear in court at a later date. Rathbun was arrested and was lodged at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility for lack of bail. He was set to reappear in court on May 3.
