A motorist was seriously injured late Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in northeast Prineville.

According to a Crook County Sheriff’s Office report, on April 20, at approximately 11:15 p.m., deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a motor vehicle crash off of Northeast Mill Creek Road near Northeast Lawson Road. Upon arriving, deputies learned that a Dodge pickup had gone off the road and rolled. The male Prineville driver, whose information isn’t being released at the request of the family, was ejected from the pickup. There were no other occupants in the pickup.

The driver was unconscious when located by passing motorist and when deputies arrived. Crook County Fire and Rescue transported the driver to the intersection of Highway 26 and Mill Creek Road where the roadway was temporarily closed by Oregon State Police Troopers for Life Flight to land.

The driver, who was in critical condition, was then transported via Life Flight to St. Charles, Bend, for further medical treatment.

The Crook County Road Department responded to clear the road of gravel and debris due to the crash.

“The Crook County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Crook County Fire and Rescue, Oregon State Police, Crook County Road Department, Life Flight, and STAR Towing for their help with this crash,” Sgt. Javier Sanchez. “The Crook County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the driver for his complete recovery and his family as they deal with this terrible incident.”

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
