Marion police identify pedestrian killed after being hit by semi on Highway 13
MARION, Iowa — The Marion Police Department has identified the city resident that was killed after he was stuck by a semi Friday. On April 26 at around 3am, first responders reported to the scene at Highway 13 near Linn Aire Avenue, where they found the pedestrian, 20-year-old Julian Gibson suffering serious injuries after he had been hit by the semi tractor trailer.
Workshop Destroyed After Fire in Rural Linn County
(Linn County, IA) -- An investigation is underway after a fire destroyed a workshop in rural Linn County Monday night. Investigators say the fire was just outside the city of Prairieburg. Firefighters responded to reports of the fire a little before 11:30 Monday night to find a large fire at the scene. The workshop was completely destroyed and two dogs were hurt.

Marion Man Says Broken Cameras Cost Him Thousands
(Marion, IA) -- A Marion man says a lack of maintenance by the city is costing him thousands of dollars. Surveillance cameras at 35th Street and 7th Avenue have been out of commission since being struck by lightning almost a month ago. As a result, there's no footage of an accident the had there recently.
One person hurt after basement fire breaks out in Marion home
Marion — At least one person is hurt after a fire started in the basement of a home in the 2300 block of Edwin Drive in Marion Wednesday. A police officer on scene tells Iowa's News Now that crews helped someone get out of the home when they got there. That person was taken by ambulance to the hospital, but there's no word yet on the extent of their injuries.

He was sentenced to 15 days in jail, and fined court costs. The sentence was suspended, and he was placed on unsupervised probation for eight months.
