    Things to do in the mid-Hudson Valley this June for food, music and art lovers

    If the recent warm weather has you ready to fully embrace summer, the mid-Hudson Valley is offering up plenty of events to kick off the season in June.

    Whether you'd like to celebrate by checking out the food trucks in the area, doing some shopping or going to a concert, there's something for everyone.

    Take a look at our curated list of events below. These are sure to give you a strong start to the summer season.

    Mid-Hudson Valley events to start your summer

    Hudson Valley Food Truck Festival , June 15

    If you're a foodie and want to indulge in a variety of dishes, there will be plenty of food trucks and vendors to choose from at the Hudson Valley Food Truck Festival. The event will be held at Baron Orchards in Poughquag, on Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Besides food, you'll find entertainment such as live music, a farm market, vendors, a dog park, beer garden, a petting zoo and activities to do as well.     Rhinebeck Crafts Festival , June 8 and 9

    Over 200 makers are providing the ultimate shopping experience at the Rhinebeck Craft Festival this year at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds . If you're looking for new accessories, jewelry or fashion for summer, or wanting to breathe new life into your home with home décor, furniture, photography, fine art or ceramics, this might be the event for you. They're also providing tastings from local distilleries, craft demonstrations and family-friendly activities.

    Saturday, June 8, the festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can purchase tickets for the event at artrider.com/rhinebeck-crafts-festival-2024 .

    Concert in the Catskills , June 15

    If you'd like to start off your summer with a concert and are a fan of country music, Jackson Dean will be performing at Historic Catskill Point , located at 1 Main St., Catskill, on Saturday, June 15. Alana Springsteen will also be performing. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

    Presale general admission for $37 will grant you access to the hospitality area and beer garden, general admission the day of the show is $42, a $60 pit pass includes access to front and center stage pit area, and presale VIP tickets for $85 offers access to private hospitality area, complimentary food, full service discount bar and private bathrooms. Children 10 and under can go for free, and no ticket is necessary.

    Beacon LITFEST , June 7, 8 and 9

    The Beacon LITFEST is a three-day celebration of the literary arts, June 7, 8 and 9 at the Howland Cultural Center . Each day presents a variety of events including a party Friday evening to start with local writers and Core Improv performers, the main program Saturday, where the center will welcome distinguished writers and hold a meet-and-greet cocktail party afterward, and three workshops on memoirs, fiction and poetry on Sunday.     Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market , Tuesdays from May 21 to Oct. 29

    Starting May 21, the Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market will open again, offering farm-fresh products, prepared-food vendors and local artisans. You'll also be able to find live cooking demonstrations, to learn more about how to cook healthy meals, using local ingredients. The market will be around every Tuesday until Oct. 29, from 2-5:30 p.m., at the pavilion at the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum .

    The Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market also accepts SNAP and EBT nutritional assistance programs and will be participating in the Double Up Food Bucks New York program, which matches SNAP and EBT purchases of fruits and vegetables, up to $20 per week.     Hudson Valley Taco Fest , June 8

    At the City of Newburgh Waterfront Trail, Saturday, June 8, from 1-6 p.m., check out Hudson Valley Taco Fest. Tacos and margaritas will be the main event, but there will also be plenty of live music to dance to from Rockarita, a Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley-inspired band. Local vendors will also be there for shopping in between bites. Tickets can be purchased at famousfoodevents.com .

    Walkway at Night , June 21

    If you're a fan of summer nights, the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization is welcoming visitors to Walkway Over the Hudson past close to take in the views of the sparkling Mid-Hudson Bridge lights, as well as Poughkeepsie and Highland's lights throughout the warmer months. Weather permitting, the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association will be on the bridge with telescopes too.

    Friday, June 21 is the next date they will be holding the event. Tickets will be available for purchase soon at walkway.org , and see their website for future dates. Walkway members can go to the event free, non-members can purchase tickets for $5 in advance or at the gate, and children 12 and under can enter for free.
