CHICAGO - An 11-year-old cancer survivor from Oak Lawn met his favorite athletes from the Chicago Cubs while serving at the Honorary Cubs Bat Kid at Saturday's game. Marty Brogan was diagnosed with stage IV rhabdomyosarcoma at age 4. Today, Marty is in remission but still sees his doctors at Advocate Children's Hospital regularly for follow-up care.

A tough weekend at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 Nationals wrapped up for Josh Hart and the R+L Carriers Top Fuel team with a first round exit against Shawn Reed. Competing at Route 66 Raceway for just the second time in his career Hart was unable to duplicate his 2023 success that saw him race to the final round. After four rounds of qualifying Hart entered race day as the No. 12 qualifier facing No. 5 qualifier Reed in a battle of independent Top Fuel operations.

Miles Sanchez, a 15-year-old freshman at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, has played volleyball nearly all his life. Sanchez also has an underlying heart condition called Brugada Syndrome, which can cause life-threatening irregular heart rhythms, or arrhythmia. He had a pacemaker and AED internally placed when he was 9.
