House fire on Camden Ave. in Portsmouth displaces one

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth Emergency Communications responded to a residential structure fire in the 1700 block of Camden Avenue on April 16, officials said.

The incident occurred in the Prentis Park section of the city around 11:30 p.m. Companies arrived to find a single-story dwelling with a well involved fire in a detached garage, according to Portsmouth Fire Rescue and Emergency Services.

An aggressed interior attack was initiated and the fire was brought under control around 12:05 a.m. One person was displaced, but refused assistance from the Red Cross.

The scene remains active and the fire is under investigation.
