The new business at 199 Constitution Ave. features a 14,700-foot climbing gym with a bouldering focus and 20-foot top-roping walls.

The grand opening celebration is free and open to the public.

The festivities will kick off with a Kids Carnival for children and families from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., including climbing and yoga classes and demonstrations, games, and entertainment. An afternoon of "big kid" (adult) climbing and yoga demonstrations will be 1 to 5 p.m.

There will also be classes, games and a taco bar.

A ceremonial sign planting will take place at 2 p.m. outside the newly opened Constitution Avenue facility. There will also be a vendor village of health and wellness and adventure-focused local businesses. A fundraising raffle will benefit local climbing stewardship organizations, including Pawtuckaway Climbers Coalition and Rumney Climbers Association.

“We so appreciate the warm welcome we’ve received from the greater Portsmouth community,” said Taki Miyamoto, managing partner of Salt Pump Climbing. “We’re looking forward to celebrating together in a big, fun way on April 27!”

First-time climbers are encouraged to attend. Salt Pump will provide facility tours, rental equipment and climbing instruction, all free of charge for attendees.
