Tuesday Seacoast roundup: Portsmouth girls tennis sweeps singles; win for Dover baseball

WOLFEBORO — The Portsmouth High School girls tennis team swept singles en route to an 8-1 win over Kingswood on Tuesday in a Division II match.

The Clippers are now 3-1 on the season.

Sophia Jundi (No. 1, 8-0), Avery Porter (No. 2, 8-0), Elyse White (No. 3, 8-2), Clara Daw (No. 4, 8-4), Lindsay Lee (No. 5, 8-2) and Anna Syphers (No. 6, 8-1) all won in singles.

In doubles, Jundi and Porter won 8-1 at No. 1, and Lee and Syphers won 8-0 at No. 3.

NORTHWOOD — Sofie Gibson (No. 1, 8-0), Clea Gibson (No. 2, 8-1), Kathryn Demarest (No. 3, 8-0), Sofia Karageorgos (No. 4, 8-2), Siena Schaier (No. 5, 8-0) and Jessica Li (No. 6, 8-0) all won in singles action for Oyster River in this Division II win.

In doubles, Sofie and Clea Gibson won 8-2 at No. 1, Demarest and Karageorgos won 8-2 at No. 2, and Megan Zehetner and Rose Goldsmith won 8-3 at No. 3.

MANCHESTER — Katie Rocha (No. 1, 8-1), Ava Iacobucci (No. 2, 8-0), Channie Ellis (No. 3, 8-0), Lydia Goldrick (No. 4, 8-0), Cate Phelps (No. 5, 8-1) and Lauren Leigh (No. 6, 8-2) all won in singles action for Exeter (5-0) in this Division I match.

In doubles, Rocha and Iacobucci won 8-0 at No. 1, Ellis and Goldrick won 8-0 at No. 2, and Phelps and Maddie Jassina won 8-2 at No. 3.

MANCHESTER — Julia Behre (No. 4, 8-0), Morgan Hoyt (No. 5, 8-3) and Maggie Wade (No. 6, 8-0) all won in singles action for St. Thomas Aquinas in a Division III match.

In doubles, Behre and Anna Seifert won 8-6 at No. 2, and Wade and Hoyt won 8-1 at No. 3.

ROCHESTER — Spaulding’s Cam Bastien (No. 1, 8-3) and Jackson Emrich (No. 2, 8-4) won their respective singles matches, and then teamed up to win 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.

HEBRON, Maine — The Bulldogs lost all five matches in straight sets in this non-league match.

BEDFORD — The Green Wave withstood a three-run seventh-inning rally and hung on for this Division I win.

Charlie Kubiet had two hits and an RBI for Dover (3-1), while Amari Lewis had a hit and scored.

Grant Davis, Nate MacGregor and Roger Mercier all scored one run for the Green Wave.

Goffstown 3

Winnacunnet 1

HAMPTON — The Grizzlies broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth inning, taking this Division I win.

Jackson Larck had three hits for Winnacunnet (1-3), while Harvey Reynoso had two, and Miles Pratt and Connor Fowler both had one.

Winnacunent’s Jones Vicinus allowed four hits and two earned runs over six innings, striking out nine.

Somersworth 1

RAYMOND — Somersworth’s Camden Pettengill laced a double for his first varsity hit in this Division III loss.

Somersworth’s Jack Rossiter allowed four hits and three earned runs, while striking out six over six innings.

Eric Goodrich shined defensively for the Hilltoppers.

DOVER — The Eagles scored 10 runs in the third inning, improving to 2-0 on the year with this Division IV win.

Kian Littlefield allowed three hits over five innings, striking out three and earning the win. Littlefield also had three RBIs.

EPPING — Kierra Souphakhot struck out 10 over four no-hit innings, leading Newmarket to this Division IV win.

Emma Surina had two hits and three RBIs for the Mules, while Emma Walkowiak had two hits and scored two runs.

Souphakhot had one hit, two RBIs and scored two runs, helping her cause. Teammates Hannah Chesley and Jadynn Radja both had a hit and scored a run.

St. Thomas Aquinas 17

Berlin 4

BERLIN — Senior Sammie Neal had two two-run homers and four RBIs as the Saints rolled to this five-inning, Division III win.

Amelia Anderson had three hits, drove in two and scored three runs for the Saints, while teammates Brielle Kelly (three hits, three RBIs, three runs), Emma Toriello (three hits, RBI, run) and Elizabeth Flynn (two hits, run) starred.

Abbie Gaynor struck out nine and allowed four hits over four innings, earning the win. Flynn pitched a scoreless fifth.

WOLFEBORO — Tyler Callander had five goals and three assists, and Alex Moody added four goals and one assist for Oyster River (2-2) in a Division II contest.

Jake Failla (two goals, four assists), Dee Tsakiris (two goals), Cole Lesvesque (12 of 21 faceoffs) and Cole Norris (five saves) all contributed in the win.

PLAISTOW - Zac Amend's seven goals and three assists led Portsmouth to this Division II win. The Clippers led 5-4 at the half, but outscored Timberlane, 5-0 in the third quarter.

Briggs Catino, Reilly Collins and Nick Smith all had two goals for the Clippers, while Ben Purcell and Lucas Patten both had one.

Smith, Patten and Purcell all had two assists, and Catino had one. Smith was 20-for-24 on faceoffs.

Traip Academy 9

KITTERY, Maine — Brody Johnson had three goals and two assists for Traip in this Class C loss.

Asa Lane added three goals and one assist for the Rangers, while Terrence Swiger, Joey Watts and Eli Holben all had one goal.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Winnacunnet 0

LONDONDERRY — Bryce Molnar had 11 assists and four kills, and Carter King had 10 digs for Winnacunnet (2-1) in this Division I loss.

Individual set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 25-17.
