    Tigers secure three personal bests at Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays

    More than 20 Tigers took to the field and rubber on Friday, April 26, at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays, with three athletes recording personal bests.

    Sophomore Abigail Wheatley finished 15th in the 3000 meters, clocking in at a personal best of 10 minutes, 50.56 seconds. Tenley Pothoff inked her personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing 26th in 17.04, while Gabriel Bondurant finished fourth in the high jump, clearing a personal best of 6 feet, 3 inches.

    In the 100 meters, Gracie Hess and Natalie Wall finished 39th and 43rd, respectively, crossing in 13.35 and 13.42. Caden Smith finished 47th in the 1500 meters, crossing in 4:10.33. Dax Duggan finished 15th in the 110-meter hurdles, running a time of 15.97. Ella Beaudry, meanwhile, finished 33rd in the discus with a toss of 95-4 and Sophia Carpenter finished 12th in the high jump at 5-0.5.

    Benjamin Bondurant managed a 10th place finish in the boys high jump, clearing 5-11. In the javelin, Thomas Schneider threw 136-11 to finish 42nd. Isaac Hankel and Caleb Lofdahl competed in the pole vault, with Hankel finishing 16th after clearing 11-9 and Lofdahl clearing 10-9 to finish 36th. In the long jump, Sienna Hansen jumped a season best of 15-7.25 and finished 28th, while Kobey Clement finished 42nd on the boys side after jumping 19-0.5.

    Elise Jones and Pothoff competed in the triple jump. Jones finished 32nd after leaping for 32-5. Pothoff, meanwhile, jumped 30-7, finishing 45th.

    Newberg deployed five relays across the afternoon and evening. The team of Hess, Wall, Pothoff and Sophia Castaneda finished 13th in the 4x100 relay in 50.20. Carpenter and Kuenzi Blubaugh joined Hess and Castaneda on the 4x400, as the team finished in 4:07.33 for 15th. Meanwhile, in the boys 4x400, Nathan Call joined Smith, Duggan and Benjamin Bondurant, as the team finished 24th in 3:34.29.

    In the girls 4x800 relay, Wheatley and Blubaugh were joined by Dominque Eszenyi, Isabella Herboldt, finishing 12th in 10:16.98. Smith, Samuel Hardy, Owen Wheatley and Mason Warberg, meanwhile, finished 18th in the 400-meter distance medley relay, running a time of 11:47.71.

    With the season’s conclusion quickly approaching, the Tigers have one final dual meet against Sherwood before preparing for the Pacific Conference Championships at George Fox University from May 7-9.
