Suffolk County Sting: Hookah City Employee Arrested for Selling Flavored Vapes to Undercover Minor
Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for selling flavored vape products to a person under the age of 21 during a compliance check in Medford. In response to community complaints, Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers checked eight locations for age compliance related to sales of vape products. One store was not in compliance.
Tragic Collision in Commack: Motorcyclist Killed in Afternoon Accident on Jericho Turnpike
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Commack this afternoon. Susan Capone was driving a 2020 Volkswagen westbound on Jericho Turnpike when she attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, located at 6070 Jericho Turnpike, and collided with a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle being driven eastbound at 4:15 p.m.
Driver Nabbed Months After Hitting, Killing Man In Holbrook, Police Say
Michael Sabeno, age 72, of Holbrook, was arrested Thursday, May 16, in connection with the death of Richard Dirocco. Suffolk County Police said Dirocco was walking in Holbrook, on Coates Avenue near Frank Court, at around 5 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2023, when he was struck by a driver who fled the scene.

Justin Llewellyn Pleaded Guilty in March to Selling Drugs that Led to the Death of Yasmin DeLeon. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced on May 16 that Justin Llewellyn, 35, of Wyandanch, was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty in March to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, for selling fentanyl and crack cocaine to Yasmine DeLeon, 25, of Ronkonkoma, that lead to her fatal overdose in November 2022. Llewellyn was one of 21 defendants indicted last April following a long-term narcotics and gun trafficking investigation.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Josue Bedell, Jr., 22, of Mastic, and Christian Anderson, 24, of Shirley, were indicted on multiple counts of armed robbery and conspiracy, related to four gunpoint robberies of gas stations/convenience stores that were all hit in one night in December 2023.

Long Island Man Sentenced to 42 Months' Imprisonment for $3 Million Bank Loan Scheme
Earlier today, in federal court in Central Islip, Gary Confredo, also known as “Gary Conte,” the former operator of Goldstar Financial Management Corp. (Goldstar), a financial services business based in Commack, New York, was sentenced by United States District Judge Joan M. Azrack to 42 months’ imprisonment for conspiring to commit bank fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud Bank of America of more than $3.2 million in loans and lines of credit that were obtained under false pretenses. The Court also ordered Confredo to pay $1,096,882 restitution to Bank of America. Confredo pleaded guilty to the charge in November 2022.
