Authorities in Port Arthur and Mid County assess rain impacts as of 8 a.m. Monday

Road conditions around the area are clearing up, as of 8 a.m. Monday, after heavy rainfall and some street flooding.

In Port Arthur, Police Chief Tim Duriso said there were reports of some areas of road flooding, including Jimmy Johnson Boulevard.

Other areas that experienced some street flooding were receding by 8 a.m., he said.

Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter said during the height of the storm there were reports of water on Nederland Avenue and South 19th Street, but that has since receded and there is no standing water in those locations.

North of Nederland at the FM 366 underpass and Twin City Highway there were reports of flooded vehicles.

Port Neches Fire Chief Eloy Vega said the heaviest rain fell between 5 and 6 a.m. and there were reports of Nall Street and a section of Meriman with some flooding. Since then the water has constantly drained and the roadways are now clear.

He reminded motorists that if they see a flooded roadway, to turn around and not attempt to drive through.

Port Neches did receive a few reports of stranded vehicles, he added.

Groves Interim City Marshal Christopher Robin said there were reports of areas that are prone to flood such as 39th Street, and sections of the Parkways (east and west) but no major incidents.
