LOCAL SPORTS: Former Roughrider running for college national title

MARION, IN — Former Port Angeles Roughrider cross country and distance running standout Jack Gladfelter will be competing in the 5000-meter semi-finals this Thursday at the NAIA Nationals in Marion, Indiana. The race will start at 7:15 EST. Gladfelter qualified for the 5000-meter Nationals by running a 14:37.37 at the Lewis & Clark College Invitational on April 12th. This was the second-fastest time in Corban College history. Gladfelter earned Academic All-American honors this past fall by competing in the cross-country Nationals and maintaining a GPA of 3.25 in his first semester at Corban.

TACOMA — There is a new state champion in the Dungeness Valley, and she is only a freshman. Sequim Wolf Clare Turella, without question, was a favorite to win the Class 2A State High Jump title. However, favorites do not always win. Yet, Turella kept her focus and let her God-gifted athletic ability take over.
