Sentence in Clallam Bay Murder Handed Down
In a dramatic conclusion to a harrowing case, Clallam County Superior Court Judge Simon Barnhart has handed down a 41-year prison sentence to Cipriano Ojeda-Ibarra of Clallam Bay. The sentencing comes in response to Ojeda-Ibarra’s guilty plea for charges including premeditated murder in the first degree, two counts of assault in the second degree, and possession of a stolen firearm.

On a single weekend day within the past month, staff at the Salvation Army shelter on Sixth Street shelter in Bremerton responded to seven overdoses, Lance Walters said. With the increased use of fentanyl — a synthetic opioid 50 times stronger than heroin — overdoses have become a near-daily reality for staff.
Sequim Police Sergeant John Southard promoted to Deputy Chief
The City of Sequim has a new Deputy Chief. Sergeant John Southard was sworn in yesterday, May 1st as the cities new Deputy Chief. Southard was hired as a City of Sequim Police Officer in 2007. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2017. Southard served for over 20 years in the United States Army National Guard. Before working for the City he was a Dive Officer and Research Scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Washington University in Environmental Policy and Assessment.

1 dead in massive house fire in Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES, Wash. - Officials are investigating after a massive fire broke out at a home in Port Angeles, which left a person dead. Firefighters were called to a home near Kemp St and Old Rd, just off Hwy 101 in Port Angeles East, on Friday morning. When they arrived, they determined a fire had started in the garage, then spread to the residence.
