Victoria Community Action Committee discontinues food deliveries due to rising costs
VICTORIA, Texas - Due to increasing costs, the Victoria Community Action Committee is forced to stop its daily food deliveries. Mark Bethune, CEO of the Victoria Community Action Committee, is working with Meals on Wheels Victoria so that non-profit can take over their meal deliveries. “Through COVID accommodations, a lot of funds came through so that wasn't a necessity, but once those accommodations started to dry up, then it became evident that the program under its current structure is not affordable,” said Bethune. Most of the Victoria Community Action Committee's food clientele will not miss a meal delivery. The Community Action Committee will continue to deliver meals for the next 60 days. After that Meals on Wheels will take over. The number of meals that Meals on Wheels delivers will jump from 200 to nearly 400 households. For more information on Meals on Wheels click here.
