    Two games in one day?

    No problem.

After an unexpected snowstorm Wednesday caused the delay of the Highland baseball team’s opening round game of the Class 5A District V-VI Tournament, it was forced to play back-to-back games Thursday.

But that proved to be no problem for the league’s regular season champions. The Rams remained unbeaten in conference play with a 3-0 shutout of Thunder Ridge before downing Rigby 7-3 later in the day at home inside the new Westmark Field.

Highland (20-6 overall), which has now won 14 straight games and is 14-0 within the league, will play in its sixth consecutive district championship game at 4 p.m. Tuesday back at Westmark Field. They’ll play the winner of Friday’s Madison/Rigby matchup.

Jackson Hale tossed a three-hit, 11-strikeout gem on the bump against Thunder Ridge. Taylor Stringfellow had two hits in that game.

Stringfellow then earned the win on the mound against Rigby with nine strikeouts. Hudson John recorded two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Mason Payne and Drew Hymas also added two apiece each in the win over the Trojans.

Will McCullough’s double was one of only two hits for the Cardinals (3-17, 1-2) in the loss.

PRESTON 10, DECLO 3Austin Gleed tallied three hits, including a double, and drove in a run in the Indians’ (7-11, 2-4 4A South East Idaho Conference) nonconference win Tuesday.

Zabe Mendoza drove in three runs on two hits for Preston.
