PLEASANT HILL, Iowa — One group is using their unique talents to help restore headstones that were damaged during last months’ tornado in Pleasant Hill.

The Cemetery Guy became inspired to help restore headstones after finding a long lost relatives’ grave from Scotland that was severely damaged.

Now, he and his team donate their time and resources to help others restore their loved ones’ final resting places.

What started as cleaning and decorating graves has turned into full repairs.

And over the past couple of days, the team has been working in Oakwood Cemetery.

“It’s brought a lot of emotion out, and we are just trying to help them get through that. So, I think the quote was ‘it’s like it happened all over again’ the death or the loss. There’s been some tears and there’s been some hugs. We just keep trying to help those people get through it without the monetary costs that it might if you had a company come out and do it,” said Kelly Penman Jr., “That Cemetery Guy.”

Penman is making his services available to anyone with a damaged headstone at Oakwood Cemetery. You can find more information on his Facebook page .
