TXDOT: District-wide safety project begins this week
LUBBOCK, Texas (News Release) - The Texas Department of Transportation is ready to begin work this week on a $1.63 million safety project to install reflective pavement markers (RPMs) to various roads in all the Lubbock District’s 17-county service area: Bailey, Castro, Cochran, Crosby, Dawson, Gaines, Garza, Floyd, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Parmer, Swisher, Terry, and Yoakum counties.
Lass and Alvarado Elected to Lockney School Board
FLOYD COUNTY, TX – Voters from Lockney and Floydada turned out to elect members to their respective city councils, while two seats were filled for Lockney ISD on Saturday. Mike Lass defeated Justin Wright for an At-Large seat on the Lockney ISD School Board, 58% to 42%, and Cecilia Alvarado defeated Alberto Soto-Gonzales, 78% to 22%, to win the District 2 seat.

LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney Volunteer Fire Department’s annual brisket sandwich fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Supporters can pick up their meals by the Fire Hall at 211 E Locust. PLAINVIEW, Texas - The historical marker for Finney Field from the Texas Historical Commission in Austin has been implanted north of Plainview. This marks the site where Plainview Pre-Glider School was located in WWII from 1942-43. “Finney Field is remembered for its local contributions to aviation and its international impact in military training.”
