The Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts recently introduced Chewbacca, nicknamed Chewy, who they describe as a funny fella who loves everyone. “This adorable mutt is built like an oversized Shih Tzu and weighs 25 lbs. Since he was found as a stray and never claimed, we don't know much about his past.” Chewy has a personality as unique as his looks. "He is overly friendly with all, dogs included. He can come on a bit strong but in the kindest way. He wants everyone to be his friend!" states the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts, who is currently caring for Chewy until he finds his forever home.

The Denver City Council will consider spending $24 million for security services at the city’s homeless hotels and micro-communities. The Finance and Governance Committee will review the contracts on Tuesday. Initially Securitas Security Services U.S. received an $18 million to provide security at the sites. But as the city’s security needs became more acute, Securitas could not keep up, according to a memo from city staff to the council. Advanced Professional Security initially received a contract of $400,000, but the city has added $3 million to it. Aquila Services Corp., doing business as Metro Protective Services, also first received a $400,000 contract. That contract has also been extended to $3.4 million.

It’s a fair question: Have people experiencing homelessness moved to Denver for a free hotel room?. At least one man did. The mother of a missing man messaged me the other day to tell me she is looking for her son. She said he moved back to Denver from Florida thinking he could get a free hotel room as part of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s House1000 plan. Of course, those rooms all are full now. Also, most people who received the rooms were in established encampments that the mayor swept. There never were any rooms for people who might move to Denver one week to be housed the next.
