NFL world reacts to peculiar Justin Fields news

The NFL world is buzzing over a speculated plan for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields. The plan is very unconventional, to say the very least.

Pittsburgh acquired both Fields and former Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason. You had to expect either a competition or the veteran Wilson to emerge as the team’s starter this fall. All told, everything seems to be going according to that plan.

But what might change is Fields’ role with the team.

Could he be a … kick returner??

According to one player, it might not be farfetched. Steelers running back Jaylen Warren joined teammate Cam Heyward on his Not Just Football podcast this week. Warren offered an interesting tidbit on Fields’ potential new role with the team.

“Our special teams coordinator was talking about Justin Fields being back there,” Warren said via Pro Football Talk. “We looked at him like, Justin Fields will be back there? I think it’s cool.”

Fieds’ speed is an asset to his game. There are probably few who’d deny this, even through all the criticism he received while he played for the Chicago Bears. Putting him as a kick returner is a very intriguing move for many reasons. Does that spell the end for his quarterback career? is it just an inventive way to get him on the field?

There are still some questions left to be answered. Heck, we don’t even know how far along this plan is or may be.

Still, the NFL world had much to say over Justin Fields and his new rumored role with the Steelers.
