Four Pittsburg seniors sign letters of intent

Lissette Allen, Hannah Brown, Avery Harrison and Ausin Jasso sign letters of intent at Pittsburg High School on Wednesday.

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Four Pittsburg High School seniors sign letters of intent to become collegiate athletes on Wednesday afternoon.

Lissette Allen and Avery Harrison sign with the Pittsburg State dance team.

"I was really glad I finally got to [sign a college commitment]," Allen says. "I've seen a lot of my peers do this. One of the senior dancers my sophomore year did it... and I was like 'I want to do that one day.'"

In addition to signing with Pitt State dance, Avery Harrison also earns the Megan Mallatt Leadership Award.

"Being a leader is very important to me," Harrison says. "I've tried to be someone that others look up to, and I think that I have achieved that, which makes me feel really good."

Two Purple Dragon wrestlers sign on Wednesday as well.

Hannah Brown commits to Iowa Central Community College.

"My journey with wrestling has been really hard," Brown says. "I definitely had moments of almost giving up, but I stuck with it because I wanted to get better -- and I did."

Austin Jasso signs with Benedictine College (KS) wrestling.

"I'm probably the first person from Pitt to do wrestling at Benedictine, which is a really big opportunity, I'm very excited" Jasso says. "But that's not possible without the people who have helped support me -- my family, friends and coaches."
