Update: Allegheny County under a flash flood warning Wednesday night
On Wednesday at 9:04 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated flash flood warning in effect until 10:30 p.m. for Allegheny County. "At 9:04 p.m., Doppler radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring," states the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Road construction season means another weekend of closures and detours. One of those projects kicks into shutdown mode Thursday night - access to Oakland from the Parkway East and the Boulevard of the Allies. It all gets rolling Thursday night with the closure of the ramp from the outbound Parkway East up onto Forbes Avenue. That will close at 9 p.m. Meanwhile, at the same time, the southbound lane of the Boulevard of the Allies and the ramp to Forbes Avenue will close. Greensburg to outfit its police with body cameras
Greensburg council this week approved buying body cameras for its police force. It also will be developing a policy for how they will be used. When the city receives the cameras, the police department will work with Motorola to install them and expand the computer server that holds police vehicle dashboard camera footage, said Chief Chuck Irvin.

Former WPXI reporter Dee Thompson dies at 84
Retired WPXI reporter DeHaven “Dee” Thompson died May 9 at age 84. Thompson worked at Channel 11 from 1974 until his retirement in 2009. WPXI meteorologist Scott Harbaugh posted a tribute on Facebook, writing, “ ‘Dee’ was one of the kindest people you would ever want to meet. … Always a smile, a kind word, a quick wit, Mr. Thompson is [a] broadcast legend in Pittsburgh. My prayers are with his family at this time. What a wonderful human being.”
