ECU baseball 16-seed, hosts Evansville, VCU and Wake Forest in NCAA Regional
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - the ECU Baseball team found out on Monday. They are the 16th seed for the NCAA baseball tournament. The Pirates will host Evansville, VCU, and Wake Forest in their regional. The Pirates are set to face Evansville at 1 PM on Friday according to Wake Forest. Wake Forest is set to VCU at 6 PM in Greenville on Friday night.

The Pirates' head coach, along with Trey Yesavage and Carter Cunningham, talked about the team hosting the Greenville Regional on Monday after the selection show. For the fifth time in the last six college baseball seasons, East Carolina is hosting an NCAA Regional. The Pirates learned Monday during an NCAA Selection Show watch party inside TowneBank Tower that it was named the No. 16 overall national seed, and would be hosting second-seeded Wake Forest, third-seeded VCU, and fourth-seeded Evansville. The Pirates went 43-15 during the season, winning the American Athletic Conference regular season title for a fifth straight season. ECU was somewhat of a controversial host, despite finishing with one of the best resumes in college baseball, as a result of the RPI which fell to 23 from 12 despite a 6-2 record across its final eight games.
