South Knoxville finally has the local grocery store it's waited years for
After years of setbacks , the long-awaited Old Sevier Market is finally open on Sevier Avenue, answering South Knoxville’s calls for a local grocery store. Knox News stopped in this week to see what products are in stock and to catch up with general manager Claire Taylor, who told Knox News the store is "figuring out the flow and making sure we have what people need to come back." As a small business, Old Sevier Market is able to take recommendations from customers about products they'd like to see in the store and then put in orders to stock them on shelves. The grocery store, which opened Oct. 10 in the same building as Redbud Kitchen and Hi-Wire Brewing, is already building a base of regulars at 906 Sevier Ave. with that neighborhood-focused approach. "That's exactly what we want is people just being able to stop in and get what they need or something that they want," Taylor said. Chris Morton, an owner of nearby Alliance Brewing Company and South Coast Pizza, led the charge on Old Sevier Market and previously told Knox News he was working with multiple partners to follow through on his vision. Fresh off Michelin nod, Raven owners have 3 Knoxville restaurants planned | Exclusive
The trendy restaurant group behind a Maryville steakhouse recently recommended by Michelin has three Knoxville restaurants in the works, from Gay Street to Bearden Hill. Gemini Hospitality, whose Raven Steakhouse & Lounge was recognized alongside other regional restaurants in the Michelin Guide to the American South , plans to bring an upscale Italian steakhouse to downtown Knoxville to mirror the experience at the Maryville hot spot. The steakhouse, a partnership with Knoxville-based Dominion development group, has been coined Anthony's and is scheduled to open inside Lone Tree Pass on Gay Street next year. Raven sits in the heart of downtown Maryville and leans heavily into "indulgence," Gemini co-founder Jimmy Loup told Knox News. The hospitality group wasn't planning to add another fine dining restaurant to its resume until the developers behind Lone Tree Pass stopped in to dine at Raven. "They enjoyed it, called us, we met and then worked out a deal," Loup said. Lone Tree Pass, located on the 200 block of Gay Street, is a $30 million mixed-use development with condos, a coffee shop and brunch spot in the mix. Anthony's will open in the 6,000-square-foot street level space facing Gay Street. A few blocks south of
