LEAD Agency to host an educational summer camp program

OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. (KOAM) -- School is almost out and a local organization is preparing to open a summer camp.

LEAD, Local Environmental Action Demanded, is hosting the summer camp.

According to LEAD, the camp will infuse environmental science with art, history, and outdoor exploration to create an immersive adventure for area students. The agency says this year will feature award-winning Cherokee Nation and Kiowa Tribe filmmaker, Loren Waters.

"LEAD Summer Camp is a super fun and meaningful experience," said M. Bailey Stephenson, education and engagement coordinator at LEAD Agency. "This year is especially exciting because award-winning filmmaker Loren Waters will be leading workshops on filmmaking. Campers get to learn about environmental science and history in a creative and exploratory environment."

LEAD Agency says the camp will include tours of the Tar Creek Superfund Site, arts, crafts, music, gardening, and more.

"As an environmental advocacy organization, the best way to grow that movement is to spend time with our young citizens and teach them the facts and give them the keys to their own future," said Rebecca Jim, executive director of LEAD Agency.
