'Yesterday's gone.' Flood survivors look forward with community support
ROSEVILLE – Roseville resident Autumn McNutt has found herself repeating a new mantra in the aftermath of the area's historic flooding in mid-August: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Autumn walked into the flood victims' donation distribution center in the old Roseville Middle School on Aug. 25, hoping to receive some clothing. The center was recently relocated there after its original location in Crooksville was flooded in a second round of flooding from Aug. 16. The first round started during the evening of Aug. 10 and continued into the next day. Autumn woke up that morning and had no power. She didn't think much of it at first, and she passed the time by playing cards with her boyfriend. Then they heard a knock at around 10:30 a.m. It was emergency personnel. "Hey, you guys need to evacuate," they told Autumn. "Evacuate? What?" She was caught off guard. "The water's right out there," they told her. Autumn stepped outside her Village Green apartment to check for herself. Moments later, she was heading to New Lexington with her neighbors, fleeing the floodwaters of Moxahala Creek. Her temporary refuge that day was a local Wendy's restaurant. Torrential downpours pummeled Morgan, Muskingum
