    Man charged with abduction after two women allegedly held against their will in Petersburg apartment

    PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A man has been charged with abduction after police said two women who were being held against their will were found in an apartment in Petersburg.

    At 1:14 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police were dispatched to the 40 block of Ivy Lane after a it was reported that two women were being held against their will in an apartment.

    When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the women and were able to help them leave the building safely.

    Police were advised that the suspect had a gun, at which point assistance was requested from Virginia State Police. The Tactical Team then responded, entry was made into the apartment and the suspect, Quantaey McDonald, was found hiding inside.

    Police said McDonald was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with two counts of abduction and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
