1 person killed in multi-vehicle crash on Lakeville Highway Tuesday

( KRON ) — One person was killed and three injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Lakeville Highway in Petaluma Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred south of Old Lakeville Road #3. A preliminary investigation, according to the CHP, indicated that a Toyota Camry was headed north on Lakeville Highway and approached stop traffic.

For reasons that remain unknown, the driver failed to decrease speed safely and swerved to avoid the vehicle ahead. The Toyota collided with a Nissan Versa and overturned into the southbound lane.

A Chevy Silverado in the southbound lane collided head on with the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota suffered fatal injuries, the CHP said.

The Nissan that was rear-ended by the Toyota was pushed forward and crashed into a Ford Fusion. The driver of the Nissan and three passengers were taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital with minor injuries, the CHP said.
