Ridgewood softball advances to State Championship with 4-1 win over Villa Grove
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - For the first time ever, the Ridgewood softball team will play in the State Championship after beating Villa Grove 4-1 in the 1A Semifinals. “This year everybody just gets so hyped for everything and it just feels so different everybody wants to be here and it just feels good. It’s crazy we’ve been dreaming about this since junior high it just feels unreal” said senior Clara Franks.

Women's College World Series: 5 players from Illinois part of NCAA softball championships
Five players from Illinois are among the NCAA softball teams playing in the 2024 Women's College World Series starting this weekend in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Four of the eight programs have players from Illinois. Here are the eight teams in the WCWS, along with USA TODAY/NFCA ranking: No. 1 Texas (52-8), No. 2 Oklahoma (54-6), No. 4 Duke (52-7), No. 5 Oklahoma State (49-10), No. 6 UCLA (42-10), No. 7 Florida (51-13), No. 8 Stanford (48-15) and No. 19 Alabama (38-18).
