Summit Sailors Race in North Regatta Series

PERTH AMBOY, NJ -- The SHS Sailing Team took to the waters of Perth Amboy last Wednesday, May 8, for the third race in the NJISA North Regatta Series.

SHS Sailors Emma Gumny, Michael Creel, Peter Huntley-Robertson, Evy Elbanna, Nikhil Ray, and Brynn Penque competed in five races in a strong westerly breeze of 12–15 knots with gusts to 20 knots.

Along with the strong winds, an incoming tide and big puffs made for tricky conditions. Commented Peter Huntley-Robinson, “the wind was pretty strong, but our performance on the water proved that we were able to handle it, and we were satisfied with our placement in the regatta.”

The team placed two boats in the top seven, with Brynn and Peter finishing in fifth and Michael and Nikhil only two points behind in seventh.  "All our Hilltoppers sailed a great regatta," the team reported.
