WIU quarterback Kennedy McGill scored the two-point conversion on a keeper to tie the game at 21-all. With time running out, McGill scrambled out of the backfield and ran 22 yards on third-and-10 to the TSU 21. McGill scored a touchdown two plays later on a 16-yard run with 52 seconds remaining. TSU got the ball to the WIU 41 after that, but Lee was intercepted for the second time with only 13 seconds left. McGill finished with a career-high 188 rushing yards on 16 carries. He completed 23-of-43 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown. Lee accounted for all three of TSU's touchdowns. He threw
