TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka High alum and Stanford sophomore pitcher NiJaree Canady has been named a Top 3 finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award. Canady was named the NFCA Freshman of the Year at the end of the 2023 season, and has followed it up with an even more impressive sophomore campaign with the Cardinal.

Kansas held a lead in the ninth inning Thursday before it allowed Texas to earn a walk-off victory. The Jayhawks watched the Longhorns earn another walk-off victory Friday in another game the visitors led in the ninth inning. Saturday saw Kansas lose another close matchup after a near-comeback against Texas.
KU takes down K-State in Big 12 Tournament Sunflower Showdown
ARLINGTON, TX. (WIBW) - In the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament in Arlington, the Jayhawks and Wildcats kicked things off, as KU holds on to down K-State, 2-1. Ben Hartl got KU on the board first with a solo homerun in the fourth inning and then K-State’s Kaelen Culpepper tied things up in the fifth with an RBI single.
