Victim of deadly shooting has been identified as Peoria teenager

An 18-year-old shot and killed Tuesday night has been identified as a Peoria teen.

The victim, MikeQuese T. Taylor, was transported to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center unconscious, not breathing, and with no heartbeat, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 7:41 pm.

Peoria police responded to the 100 block of East Forrest Hill Avenue around 7:20 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert indicated three rounds had been fired. There police found Taylor with a gunshot wound, according to police.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Wednesday. Police have no suspect information at this time.

The shooting marks the city's sixth homicide of 2024.
