Peoria restaurant announces last day after more than a year and a half in business

Uncle Sam’s Chicken & Fish will be open for a final day on Wednesday, May 1.

Initially, owner Samuel Risby announced April 30 would be the final day. He later posted that the business would be closed Tuesday and open Wednesday.

The restaurant, located at 601 W. Main St., operated in Peoria for more than a year and a half. Risby overcame health issues to open the business in late September 2022 .

“I’m sure they’ll love this chicken,” Risby said shortly after opening. “They just gotta come taste it.”

The business’s hours are from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The restaurant’s phone number is (309) 966-4137.
