All About Art: Printmaker and muralist Orlando Corona
Orlando Corona has built a dynamic career as a visual artist specializing in printmaking, painting and murals. His creative journey began in a high school art class, where he first discovered a passion that would shape his life’s work. Today, he not only produces deeply personal and compelling work, but uses that work to teach, bridging creativity and education. Originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, Orlando moved to Greenville, SC at the age of 10 with his family. In 2022, he was accepted into the Brandon Fellowship program at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts, which served as a pivotal catalyst for his professional career. In 2025 he was awarded an Exhibition Committee Award at Flat Out Under Pressure, the Metropolitan Arts Council’s 24-hour juried art making competition. Orlando says he draws deep inspiration from his roots as a first-generation Mexican immigrant, often weaving stories of his childhood in rural Mexico into his art. Each piece reflects personal elements that honor his heritage and celebrate the culture of his homeland. His passion for community and helping others is integral to his practice, whether through teaching, exhibitions or public work, his mission is to expand horizons, inspire and educate.
