LEE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) – A Pennington Gap woman was sentenced to 10 years in Virginia state prison Tuesday.

Melinda Davis was sentenced after she was convicted on methamphetamine distribution charges, according to the Office of Lee County Commonwealth’s Attorney H. Fuller Cridlin.

Fentanyl found at West Greene High School

The commonwealth’s attorney’s office stated that Davis will be placed on supervised probation indefinitely after she serves out the sentence.

Cridlin thanked the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force for their role in investigating Davis and helping his office convict her.

“This case highlights the strength in collaborative law enforcement efforts in our fight against methamphetamine trafficking in Southwest Virginia,” Cridlin said in a statement. “The sentence imposed today, ten years to serve, reflects the severity of her crimes and the Commonwealth’s commitment to combating the distribution of methamphetamine.”
