Peekskill resident Luis Urgiles has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison for committing sex crimes against a child. A jury found Urgiles guilty of sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child. According to the Westchester district attorney, the repeated sexual abuse began when the child was just 10 years old and continued between October 2021 and July 2022. As a result, Urgiles has been sentenced to 16 years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender. Additionally, he has a prior felony conviction and faces 20 years of probation.

A 70-year-old Westchester resident fell victim to a scam resulting in the loss of nearly $30,000. Bedford police reported that the man received an alert claiming his computer had been hacked. Believing the message, he called the provided number and subsequently withdrew $28,000, thinking it would resolve the issue with Microsoft. Later, an individual arrived at his house, to whom he handed over the money. The victim contacted the police the following day after receiving additional demands for money. Law enforcement arranged a meeting between the victim and the scammer, leading to the perpetrator's arrest. He has been charged with grand larceny by extortion, although the victim's money has not yet been recovered.

New Rochelle police are taking action against improperly registered scooters and motorcycles on the streets. They recently seized several bikes in front of a business on Union Avenue. Among them, a scooter and a dirt bike were found to be unregistered, while one sport bike had a license plate expired for more than three years. All three vehicles were impounded, and their owners were issued violations.
