On Wednesdays, we’ll introduce the students who make up Year 8 of High School Confidential, powered by Danville Area Community College. Next up: Paxton-Buckley-Loda senior Becca Lackey. Follow her on Snapchat (@becca.lackeyyy), X (@RebeccaL_06) and Instagram (@beccalackeyyy).

A series of medical setbacks has made for a challenging senior year. But Becca’s determination hasn’t wavered.

“I trust that God has my best interest and wouldn’t let this happen if he knew I couldn’t handle this,” she wrote. “Never let a disability or diagnosis define you at any age or any stage in life.”

Becca’s been a joy to work with since Day 1. Her reporting duties — which allow her to “write about all the amazing qualities within PBL” — are part of a busy workload that includes football, basketball and competitive cheerleading; National Honor Society; FFA; peer mentoring; and tutoring.

“Senior year has definitely been the hardest,” she said. “Especially one affecting being in school … not the easiest but so close to being done we’ve managed!”

She’ll work as a nanny after graduation with plans of “going into the real estate field.”

Either way, she knows her hometown has her back. She loves Paxton because “it’s a community and village that helps raise everybody and all the support it brings.”
