B-29 no longer coming to Magic Valley Regional Airport
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Last week, the Magic Valley Airshow announced that a B-29 was coming to the airport. Jim O’Donnell with the Magic Valley Airshow said he received a call last Friday asking if they were interested in the plane to come to the area. The call was a great opportunity to bring living history to Twin Falls. For those not familiar with the plane, the B-29 Superfortress was a heavy bomber flown during World War II and used exclusively against the Empire of Japan.

World War II History to Land in Twin Falls, Idaho with B-29 DOC
The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour will land in Twin Falls, Idaho, and Magic Valley Regional Airport June 18-21. DOC is one of 1,644 Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers built in Wichita, Kan., during World War II, and one of only two B-29 bombers still airworthy and flying today. This historic aircraft will be available for ground and cockpit tours, as well as B-29 DOC Flight Experience rides during the four-day tour stop.

Twin Falls tanker base opens early as wildfire season ramps up
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Twin Falls Tanker Base opened three weeks ahead of schedule this year to support early wildfire activity across the region. The base opened May 26 instead of its typical June 16 start date. Since opening, crews have already used 15,000 gallons of fire retardant to help suppress the Summit Creek Fire on U.S. Forest Service land and multiple fires in Montana.
