PATERSON, NJ - Paterson has officially welcomed Vitaquest International's, a renowned partner in product development and commercialization for nutraceuticals and functional foods, latest addition to its manufacturing network: a state-of-the-art, 26,000-square foot powder processing facility located at 95 Prince Street. This marks the company's fourth location in New Jersey and solidifies its position as one of the largest facilities in North America.
Vitaquest, a household name in New Jersey since its establishment in 1977, has been headquartered in West Caldwell. With a track record spanning 47 years, the company has emerged as a key player in the global dietary supplement industry, valued at over $150 billion. Alongside its new Paterson site, Vitaquest boasts a powder packaging facility in West Caldwell and another manufacturing hub in Parsippany. Across these four sites, the company provides employment to more than 650 individuals, with plans to hire 50 people, preferably from Paterson, at the new site.
"If you know anything about Paterson and the working-class people here, currently at Vitaquest, about 15% to 20% of our people actually live in Paterson and have a Paterson address, so we've been in Paterson a long time," Patrick Brueggman, President and CEO of Vitaquest said. "Now, with our new manufacturing facility, we're truly rooted here. The dedicated individuals at Vitaquest who contributed to building this plant are the very same individuals who call Paterson home. We've refurbished the plant to meet Vitaquest's high standards, and we're proud of what we've accomplished."
Annually, Vitaquest develops over 4,000 bespoke supplement formulations for a clientele exceeding 500 customers across 40 countries. These formulations come in various formats, including tablets, capsules, and now, powders. The Paterson facility equips Vitaquest with cutting-edge capabilities for application-specific product development, as well as pilot and commercial manufacturing solutions, leveraging advanced powder processing technology.
"In envisioning the future, we see a sustainable city where manufacturing thrives," Mayor Andre Sayegh said. "By attracting more manufacturers to Paterson, we're staying true to our roots while also promoting health and well-being. It's a win-win-win situation: we support local businesses, create job opportunities, and contribute to community health."
The Paterson-based facility, formerly owned by Pharmachem Laboratories, a division of Ashland Inc., has been recognized for its industry-leading expertise in specialty granulated bulk ingredients since 1978. Branded as VQ Technologies under Vitaquest's umbrella, this acquisition positions Vitaquest International as one of the world's premier dietary supplement and functional food product commercialization companies with comprehensive manufacturing capabilities.
