Another major discount store will open on the MS Coast, with electronics, books & more

National brand stores continue to open in Pascagoula, and another popular department store is on the way.

Ollie’s will open at 3501 Denny Ave. in Pascagoula, in the same complex as Office Depot and near the Aldi, Marshalls, Burlington and other stores that just opened along U.S. 90 or are coming soon.

The only other Ollie’s in South Mississippi is at Pass and Cowan roads in Gulfport.

A building permit issued for the construction says two buildings will be combined into one for the new Pascagoula store.

Ollie’s is the country’s largest retailer of closeout merchandise and excess inventory, according to the company website. It started in Pennsylvania in 1982 and now has 514 stores that offer customers savings of up to 70% off department store prices.

“So, you will always find famous brand name products at Ollie’s, but a lot of them could be last year’s colors, patterns or packaging that traditional retailers won’t sell,” according to the website.

One of the most popular departments is books, where shoppers will find stories and nonfiction for kids and adults, along with trendy cook books, how-to books and puzzles. Also stocked are toys, electronics, housewares, flooring, kitchen products, bed and bath, clothing and brand-name food. Seasonal products like backyard furniture and holiday decorations also are featured.

The store has a reward club for shoppers and a 30-day return guarantee for a full refund with sales receipt.

The company recently raised $791,000 for Feeding America through an in-store fundraising campaign to benefit 132 Feeding America partner food banks in communities that Ollie’s serves.
