CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A Tucker County campground in the Monongahela National Forest has once again been named among the best in America.

Five River Campground, which is on the banks of the Shavers River in Parsons, is the third best campground in the southeast region, according to camping resource the Dyrt . The region includes 12 states—West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Five River was named among the best because it is a perfect base camp for the area’s outdoor adventure opportunities. Places like Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls are only a short drive away. But if you want to spend time at camp, it’s right on the Shavers Fork River for activities like swimming and kayaking and has hiking and biking trails.

Amenities like a bathhouse and laundromat are “spotless and well maintained,” according to Dyrt. It also is one of the most affordable options from the southeast region’s top list at only $15-30 per night. For more details about the campsites offered at Five River, click here .

West Virginia’s Five River Campground was only beaten by Petit Jean State Park in Morrilton, Arkansas and St. Andrews State Park in Panama City, Florida.
