Building demolished to make room for new Wrangler's Saloon near Howell
The old Wrangler's in Howell Township has finally come down, as a new project prepares to take shape. The blighted building was demolished in early March. Holly Fletcher, one of the restauranters behind the upcoming development, said organizers are now awaiting bids from prospective contractors — which are due March 17. Afterward, a better construction timeline will be available. Here's everything we know about the long-awaited Wrangler's Saloon Restaurant and Bar expected to come next: What's coming to the former Wrangler's in Howell Township? The project includes a new, two-story restaurant, bar and entertainment venue with the same name and theme at 4020 W. Grand River Ave. Developers were granted an extension of approvals during a meeting of the Howell Township Planning Commission on Aug. 26. That extension will last until Sept. 5, 2026. Who is behind the new Wrangler's? When the plan was first announced in 2020, restauranteurs Fletcher, Winn Dahm and Chris Stone intended to call the business Stoney's on the River — but Stone has since left the project. Dahm took over Champ's Pub after longtime owner Dave "Champ" Beauchamp retired in 2022 and also has roles at the New Hudson Inn and the revamped Log Cabin.

That's the program Senior Executive Chef Justin Lucas put into practice in the intense crunch time leading up to winning the gold at NACUFS 2026 Midwest Culinary Competition. Lucas, who cooked at the James Beard House in NYC back in 2013, practiced his recipe twice a day in that four-day timeframe. Winning, he says, was "pretty relieving... it took a lot of practice."
