Popular Christmas vendor at Hanover market announces new storefront

A popular Hanover market vendor is joining forces with a vintage shop to open a new storefront in downtown Hanover, the businesses announced. Christopher Cringle's, a longtime Christmas vendor at the Hanover Market House, will be opening a new storefront in combination with Jules' Treasure Hunt at 279 Frederick Street in the borough. In their announcement of the upcoming venture, Jules' Treasure Hunt shared that the store will offer "vintage treasures, antiques, beautiful home decor, seasonal favorites, and plenty of surprises." The storefront is planning to hold a grand opening on Nov. 18, 2026, owner Chris Arter told The Evening Sun, adding that the store will be in addition to his vendor spot at the Hanover Market House. Arter is joining forces with his mother, Julie Arter, who will be opening the Jules' Treasure Hunt portion of the storefront as her own store for vintage items and antiques. "It’s madness in many ways, but I’m excited," Arter shared as he worked to prepare the new store while also preparing for the busy holiday season. Marker dedication to honor onetime fixture in Glen Rock community

Every year, Jon Nicklow pages back through Glen Rock’s long story to find an anniversary to celebrate. And every year, that anniversary is remembered in bronze. A memorial to the borough’s Community Recreation Building rose to the top of the Glen Rock Historic Preservation Society’s list this year. The Baltimore Street building opened in 1926, though it did not live to celebrate its century birthday. The building, bad roof and all, was demolished in 2010. But memories remain — a host of them. It served as the Glen Rock High School gym, Borough Hall, police headquarters, the Glen Rock Carolers hall, site of countless community dinners and much more. “If you grew up in town,” Nicklow of the Historic Preservation Society said, “you definitely knew where it was.” At one point, the building was expanded to cover the family home of prominent residents Jim and Mark Kroh. Part of the Kroh residence later served as a kitchen for the community building. “Jim would say,” Nicklow recalled, “that he was born under the kitchen sink.” A Glen Rock building does not have to stand to gain a plaque. So the old building will receive its marker — a $3,000 investment in
