$5,000 Legacy grant jump starts 30th Anniversary funding campaign for Cowley BBBS
WINFIELD – A grant from Legacy Foundation has helped kick off a fundraising campaign that coincides with Big Brothers Big Sisters 30th anniversary serving this area. The $5,000 grant was recently presented by Legacy Regional Community Foundation to Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Cowley County. Their goal is to raise $30,000 that would remove 30 kids from their waiting list.

Highway patrol continues probing Cowley County pursuit that ended with crash
The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash last week. Around 5:35 p.m. Friday, a highway patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop with a Cadillac passenger vehicle on U.S. 77 highway. The Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept. assisted at 82nd Rd. and 77 north of Winfield.

The Arkansas City Police Department (ACPD) said they received multiple calls about a reckless driver in a gray Ford truck that evening. The calls came from the area of Chestnut Avenue and 5th Street.
