Felony charges filed against four men following Sunday shooting
Four men are facing gang-related weapons charges in connection to a shooting at a large party in Peoa over the weekend that left two people injured. Each man faces five second-degree felonies: two counts of discharging a firearm and causing an injury and three counts of firing a gun unlawfully. The charges also have special considerations because the men acted together as a group with more than three people, classifying it as gang violence.

Park City Day School students return feeling grateful for their turn in Colombia exchange program
Five Park City Day School students recently traveled to Bogota, Colombia for a two-week cultural exchange program at Colegio Los Nogales, an independent K-12 school. This marked the second half of the exchange program, which began in March when seven students from Bogota traveled to Park City and stayed with Park City Day School families for 10 days. Five seventh grade students and one teacher resided with the same families of students who had visited Park City in March.
Gaurdsman Pass road is now open for the summer season
Park City Utah Department of Transportation Supervisor Morgan McCarthy opened the gates to Empire Pass Thursday morning for the summer season. With the temperature in the low 20s and windy, light snow flurries, it did not feel much like summer, but now Parkites can drive from Park City to Brighton and down to Midway on Pine Canyon Road. Guardsman Pass road near the summit still has patches of ice and blowing snow demanding careful driving in spots. The Blood Lake, Empire Pass and the Bonanza Flats trailheads are still closed until the snow melts, which is more than five feet deep in some spots.
Utah Valley University Wasatch Campus offers opportunities for students of all ages
UVU has the largest student population in the state with over 43,000 students enrolled. Wasatch Area Director Beka Grulich said that’s because the Orem campus is full and the school offers concurrent enrollment classes so high school students can get college credit. Both Park City High School and Wasatch High School have high enrollment numbers in UVU’s CE classes, which are very affordable. Each credit costs $5 so a regular three-credit class is only $15, Grulich said on a recent visit to KPCW’s Local News Hour.

Park City police told of moose close to busy road, on bicycle path
The Park City Police Department in the middle of May received a series of reports involving moose sightings, including cases close to busy streets. • On Wednesday, May 15, at 8:41 a.m., two moose were reported in the area of the intersection of S.R. 224 and Meadows Drive. They were apparently just south of the McPolin Farm. The animals appeared “to be stuck inside someone’s fence,” the police were told.
